 Abstract:  The Paine Papers contain at least one item which may be of interest to naval historians: Jefferson, Thomas. Letter to Thomas Paine. 1788 July 28. Discusses a battle between Admiral Paul Jones and the Prince of Nassau on the 18th of June, the "forerunner of the great decissive action... which took place on the 26th..." Mentions also a "less bloody war" between the Pope and the King of Naples. 4 pages.
